The All-Electric Buildings Act takes effect Jan 1, 2026

The All-Electric Buildings Act passed buried in the budget bills submitted by the governor.  The law requires that buildings under 7 stories who get a building permit  on or after January 1, 2026  be constructed electric heat and appliances . Those over 7 stories have to January 1, 2029  Industrial sites are exempt.
The plan to ban oil, wood and gas heat for existing building for 2035 is still proposed but not yet passed
